Objective: Redesign the text "Artist of the Beautiful" by Nathaniel Hawthorne using only type. The design should interpret the content and appeal to a younger audience. Compositions must be one color (black) and use only one type family.

 

Concept: Society (the center block of text) has defined and marginalized Owen. As the story progresses Owen begins to break out of the margins that society has put him in and comes into his own through acceptance of who he is and the beauty of his work.
